Infectious Disease Cleanup Overview

All throughout the world there are microscopic organisms inside of our bodies, on surfaces we touch, and in the air we breathe. Most of the time, we all co-exist peacefully. However, under certain conditions, these organisms can cause illness.

Infectious diseases can be transmitted in a variety of ways: person-to-person, via insect or animal, and from contaminated food or water. Some of the common infectious diseases we provide decontamination services for are:

  • C. Diff (Clostridioides difficile) – C. Diff is a bacterium that causes severe diarrhea and colitis. According to the CDC, 1 in 6 patients who get C. diff will get it again in the subsequent 2-8 weeks. Most cases of C. diff occur when you’ve been taking antibiotics or not long after you’ve finished taking antibiotics.

  • MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) – MRSA is a cause of staph infection that is difficult to treat because of resistance to some antibiotics. Staph bacteria are usually harmless, but they can cause serious infections that can lead to sepsis or death.

  • COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) – COVID-19 most often causes respiratory symptoms that can feel much like a cold, a flu, or pneumonia. COVID-19 may attack more than your lungs and respiratory system. Other parts of your body may also be affected by the disease.

Please seek out a healthcare professional if you are concerned about symptoms that may be related to an infection.

Infectious Disease Cleanup Process

Our comprehensive decontamination treatment will reduce the chances of spreading further infections. We tailor our services to address issues typical of an identified infection, as well as the needs you express to us. With respect to your confidentiality and HIPAA rights, we only need to know the specific disease for which we are treating and will not ask you for any other medical information.

  • Some instances of infectious disease can be addressed with a decontamination fogging treatment throughout the property.

  • Other situations may require a more labor-intensive disinfection treatment, such as in areas like kitchens and bathrooms.

  • High-contact surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, and tv remotes are a major focal point for our treatments as well.

We take the health and wellness of our clients and our technicians seriously. We frequently review and update our methods to ensure we follow current CDC recommendations for preventing the spread of bacteria, viruses, and mold. Our chemicals are EPA registered and approved, and we are happy to provide the corresponding SDS (Safety Data Sheets) upon request.

Mold Testing & Cleanup

If the cause of the illness is uncertain, an indoor air quality test may be suggested to ensure that the source of the problem is properly addressed. If we find there are any spores or allergens that could be causing adverse health issues, we can suggest appropriate services to relieve the property of these contaminants.

Bodily Fluids Cleanup

A frequent symptom of infectious disease is diarrhea. Regardless of the cause, we can properly handle any issues in or out of the bathroom to reduce the possibility of further contamination or odor impact.

Odor Removal

When people are sick in their home, occasionally the standards of cleanliness can start to slip. If the person is having any gastrointestinal issues, it is likely that the home will begin to retain some of those persistent odors. Our team is trained and equipped to provide the appropriate cleaning and disinfection services to help remove those unfortunate odors.

Frequently Asked Questions

We will always try to customize our service to your specific needs. However, there are instances where we will not be able to alter our requirements, specifically when it comes to the health and safety of anyone involved. If our technicians are wearing full-body PPE to do the work, that means no one can be in the home in anything less. If our work extends past the first day, we can help provide hotel accommodations at no charge to you!

Our team will ensure that a plan of action is in place to treat all diseases that are present, using chemicals that are approved by the EPA to treat each specific disease. This may require multiple treatments to satisfy the parameters for each chemical.

This will most likely be suggested or recommended by your healthcare provider if they are concerned about the potential for transmission and infection inside of your home or property. Our team will treat your needs with care and compassion as we formulate a plan to make your home as safe as we possibly can.
