Bodily Fluids & Human Waste

Bodily fluids such as blood, urine, and feces are considered biohazardous waste due to the potentially dangerous viruses and bacteria they can carry. The possible presence of infectious diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis A, B, and C, and many others can create a serious health hazard to anyone in the area. In addition to the risk of infection and illness, these substances can produce foul odors if not properly removed and the area cleaned.

Bodily Fluids & Human Waste Cleanup Process

Regardless of anyone’s medical status, these situations should always be approached from the safest possible perspective. Our team has the expertise to handle any type of bodily fluid cleanup that may occur. We approach our work with compassion and respect; no matter the cause of the incident, our goal is to take care of you swiftly and provide the highest level of service. Health, safety, and peace of mind are our priorities, and our team will do everything we can to deliver that to you.

  • Inspection & Safety – Prior to starting our cleanup, we will evaluate the possible risks to anyone in the area and to our technicians. We will don the appropriate PPE including hazardous material suits, gloves, and respirators. If necessary, we will seal off the area to make sure no one has unauthorized access while we work.

  • Cleanup & Disinfection – Once necessary safety precautions have been implemented, we will begin the cleanup process by removing all impacted materials from the area. This not only includes the fluids and waste itself, but any objects or porous materials that have been contaminated. When the affected materials have been removed, we will complete the sanitizing and disinfection process.

  • Waste Disposal – All the biohazardous waste and trash will be legally transported and disposed of at an approved medical waste disposal facility. At the completion of our service, the area will be safe to inhabit once again.

Mold Testing & Cleanup

If the bodily fluids were not found and dealt with immediately, it may be prudent to perform an indoor air quality test to assess if the impact is only surface level or if any liquids seeped into the material. This can be a breeding ground for dangerous organisms.

Infectious Disease Cleanup

Any human waste has the potential to carry and transmit infectious diseases. As we are often unaware of the medical diagnoses of the people around us, treating for the worst-case scenario will yield the most positive and safest results.

Odor Treatment

Odors issues can come from any number of sources. In Texas, the use of recirculated air to combat the warm temperatures outside can exacerbate the effect of even minor odors. Whether the smells are due to trash, moldy food, or more serious events, we are equipped to help you eliminate unpleasant smells from your home, property, and vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

In our experience, this type of service is usually not covered by insurance, but it is still worth contacting your insurance provider to find out for sure. In instances where the cleanup is related to a medical issue, we may be able to help you get approved to process an insurance claim.

Due to the nature of the work, our team will be following all NIOSH and OSHA guidelines for a safe work environment, which includes extensive PPE to keep ourselves safe. As such, we would ask that you are not in the area while we are performing our services. Occasionally we will need to work for longer than the first day. In these instances, we will provide you with lodging accommodations at no cost to you.

Each cleanup is different, so we will need more information to provide you with a scope of work. The length of time the fluids or waste have been sitting will play a factor in the treatment options. The type of flooring is equally important – engineered wood, carpet, and the grout between tiles are all porous materials meaning that they can quickly absorb liquids. If the fluids have been allowed to seep into the flooring or further to the subfloor, we will need to remove the flooring and dispose of it accordingly. It is our policy to ensure we have properly treated and disinfected the impacted areas, and in certain cases we can only do that by removing the flooring.
